Research on “Survey on Waterproofing in HCMC” done by HCMC Polytechnic University’s Faculty of Civil Engineering Technology and printed in the Construction Journal’s December issue –which stated that the Ministry of Construction said that 84.35% of HCMC-based buildings (under 10 years of age) are absorbent,78.3% of this number have absorbent basements.  The statistics of the American Housing Watch Association printed in the New York Times shows the water absorption in U.S, Australia, Singapore, Italy, Spain, Malaysia, Hongkong is 60%, while 53%… is considered as problematic.

The housing water absorption in general, and that of basements in particular, is getting to be a popular subject in Vietnam and other parts of the world.   Therefore, the demand for waterproofing is a very serious problem as well as one of the greatest concerns of building contractors and inhabitants.

For this reason, BDU Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture jointly held the Workshop “INTOC-Made-in-Vietnam – Solutions to Waterproofing” with Tan Tin Thanh Co. Ltd-INTOC in Lecture Hall A, in an effort to share with students on-site experience and useful knowledge on waterproofing for building projects.

Attending the workshop were Mr. Do Thanh Tich-Director of Tan Tin Thanh Co Ltd, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Van Thanh-BDU Vice President and faculty staff and students.
